What a fabulous third week of school! We are settling in to our routine more each day. This week in math we continued to work with place value as we compared and ordered numbers as large as the billions. I introduced rounding and will be working on that more early week 4. We also will introduce decimals during this time. Science has been dedicated to our Power Point biographies on famous scientists. The kids have done very well seeking facts using multiple resources and using the computers. In reading, writing and social studies the kids had quite a project. Me on the Map integrated map skills with reading and writing and has introduced where Baldwin is in relationship to the world around us. The kids also spent time reading dramas and plays both here at school and at home. Miss Smajstrla led her first lesson with reader's theater encouraging the kids to read with expression. Week 4, we will investigate the features of poetry. Last but not least, I have completed a diagnostic reading activity with each kid called DRA. The results will be shared with you at our conferences in October and will help me to better meet the needs of your child in class. Hope you have had a restful weekend! I am looking forward to next week.
Cheers! Mrs. Reaves

Yay! I love the blog and I look forward to reading the next post. What a great way to stay connected with everything that is going on in the classroom. Now at the dinner table I will have new things to discuss with my son. No more blank stares when I ask, "So, what have you learned this week?"
