This week at our Baldwin faculty meeting we had our first "Tech Minute". Based on a survey given before school started, we collected dozens of topics our teachers wanted to explore about technology. We decided the best place to start would be Digital Safety. We discussed ways to protect student and teacher privacy on social media when posting about school news. It was a big success!
Shout Outs go to....
Sara Dawson: @mrsdawson4 tweeted her first tweet this week! Hooray! Bill Crowley: This 5th grade teacher is working with Ms. Ashley to teach kids coding using Dash. Check out this video of Dash in action! Jen Beeler: This 5th grade teacher has been using reading-rewards.com with her classes. They log reading minutes, build a virtual library, post reviews, choose avatars, and earn rewards. If that wasn't impressive enough, she has also been using edmodo this year for a quick assessments. Both these sites have motivated the kids and they want to use them every week. She had one student create step by step directions for the group on edmodo of how to download an avatar. Super cool! Shout outs to:
Dora Quiroz: engaging kids using Plickers, an online tool that collects student answers during an assessment without every kid needing a device! Find out more- https://plickers.com/ Sara Aragon: Thank you so much for introducing Mackinvia to our bobcats! https://www.mackinvia.com/ This online resource for e-books and more is the perfect way to get access to more book where ever you are! Mobile friendly and easy to log on, this will be very popular with the kids and teacher this year!! Baldwin Admin: You guys are tweeting machines! It's so great to get a glimpse into the busy days here at Baldwin through the eyes of our administrators. Keep it up, ladies! Shout outs to so many teachers and grade level teams that took the risk and used Google Forms and Surveys to collect student data! Goodbye cumbersome paperwork! Hello technology! One step closer to paperless.
