Hope everyone had a restful day off and spent a little time talking about MLK Jr. and his contributions to our culture and country. If you did, share your experience on my blog http://mrsreaves4thgrade.weebly.com/class-blog We would love to hear about it!
Math:
This week, you would have thought we were in a pre-algebra class! Kids had lots of practice solving multi-step word problems using variables to stand in for missing numbers. This unit really is a culmination of all of the foundation and skill practice we did the first semester.
This week, we will wrap up this unit with a test, likely on Wednesday or Thursday. Check agendas for updates. We will also start out personal financial literacy unit and begin work on a website program called Everfi.
Science:
In science, we explored uneven heating and its effects on weather. Students also have been using various weather tools to collect data daily out our very own Baldwin Weather Station!
This week, we will learn how to read weather maps.
Tuesday - Friday is "No Namecalling Week" here at Baldwin. This event is part of the "No Place for Hate" campaign at school. We will celebrate friendship and kindness all week by wearing colors to represent characteristics of being a good friend.
Monday --- Student/Staff Holiday – MLK Day
Tuesday --- Red for Kindness --- Take time to do a kind act for someone and give compliments to friends
Wednesday --- Yellow for Friendship --- be friendly to everyone and show your smile
Thursday ---Blue for Tolerance --- show your respect to everyone even if they are not like you or see situations different from you
Friday --- Purple for Patience/Understanding ---Show how much you care by showing compassion for others
