We made it! The first semester is over and we have so much to celebrate. I am so grateful to all of you for sharing your wonderful children with me. It's truly a pleasure to wake up and go to my job each day... But let me tell you, I am ready for the break!
I also want to thank all of you for my amazing class gift. Your generosity has blown me away and I am so fortunate and feel so very appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My husband and I look forward to some dinners out on the town and I'm going to buy me something pretty from Nordstrom's!
Math:
This week I squeezed in lots of long division practice and brought back some double digit times double digit multiplication. I have a good idea who will benefit from small group support in January and who is ready to move on to the standard algorithm you all know and love.
Science:
On Tuesday, the kids took an open book and open note science quiz on air, atmosphere, and weather. Those were graded and sent home Thursday. Our next investigation was supposed to be outside. The big question was "how does the sun heat the earth?". The weather didn't exactly cooperate, but we were flexible and brought our outdoor investigation inside. Kids measured the temp of both soil and water under "the sun's rays" (heat lamps)over time. We will build on this investigation as we move on to weather forecasts and patterns in January.
I wish everyone a very happy winter break! I hope you all get to spend time with the people you love most. Please be safe, and squeeze in some Xtra math and reading if you get a chance. ;)
