Find a Book!
One of the things I will present to you at our conferences is your child's lexile score. This measurement helps you to choose books on your child's independent reading level. The score is located on your conference form, so if you are missing it, let me know and I will get it to you ASAP. Check out the site below. It's very user friendly.
Find a Book!
This week was all about procedurals. In math we followed steps to solve addition and subtraction equations with regrouping. In science, we did an awesome investigation studying matter and in Reading we immersed ourselves in all things procedurals. This is always an important unit, since we all know how important following directions is! In social studies we even learned steps to taking good notes as our "research teams" started learning more about their Texas region for the upcoming info-mercials. Finally, in writing, we worked on "making over" our first drafts into to bigger, better, stronger 2nd drafts. We also looked for "dynamite details" in each others writing after we read our mentor text "My Ol' Man" by Patricia Polacco. Editing, here we come!
Highlights for next week:
Miss Smajstrla begins her "total teach"! Look for her blog update next week!
